Textile Design, BA (Hons)
Introduction
The BA (Hons) Textile Design degree show presents the broad skills of our students who have specialised in surface pattern design, textile design and textile art.
The limitations on our lifestyles and the opportunities for reflection that the pandemic has presented are shown in this year’s themes. Students have considered the contrast between technology and nature and its impact on mental health, our renewed connections with local environments and perception of danger through exploring the beauty of poisonous sea slugs.
Inner landscapes that recall childhood imaginary worlds, bedtime stories of hope and fond memories of grandparents have also been explored.
We are proud to present this diverse collection of work that encompasses the varied skill sets and specialisms of the 2021 textile design cohort.
As a course team we are immensely proud of the determination and adaptability that the Class of 2021 has demonstrated during unusual circumstances. They have consolidated their visions of final collections in innovative ways which is a testament to their resourcefulness and resilience. The students graduate with the creative skills to succeed in their chosen textiles career.
