Master of Ceramics

About me

After a career in teaching I joined the BA (Hons) Ceramics course at UCLan in 2011. Eight years later I returned to continue my studies on the MA course. In the interim I was involved in a range of different projects: exhibiting at The Atkinson in Southport and The Heritage Centre in Lytham, helping to set up a new community ceramics workshop, selling my work locally and at Northern Potters exhibitions, and experimenting with different clays, forms, techniques and decoration. My work eventually became focussed on the coastal landscape where I live.

My MA project has been about depicting the coastal landscape in clay. I have developed a number of colour palettes based on my experiences of the beach, and worked on creating these on a series of vessels.
