About me

I am Chloe Nicole Southworth, I am 23 years old, and I am from Wigan. I have been a dancer since a young age and I am trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern and contemporary. I am continuing this training alongside my university experience. Throughout my time at university, I have gained a key interest in facilitating inclusively within dance and worked alongside Dance Syndrome, Primary Dance UK, and Dance with Parkinson’s to enhance my experience of working inclusively. I aspire to be a facilitator working with children from all different backgrounds. Whether that is children with specific learning needs, or children without. I will undertake a one year course doing a PGCE at Edge Hill University where I will start in September 2021. After this, I hope the work within a primary school where I can facilitate to children and inspire them the way that my teachers inspired me.

My final independent project focused upon how inclusive practice and adaptation impacts my facilitation of dance towards primary school children. In it, I examined how props could enhance individuals ways of moving. That gave me the opportunity to explore adaptation in more depth as I learned that adaptation has more content. I am inspired to teach within primary schools. As a third year dance student I have also been a member of UCLan Dance Company and involved in the devising of a dance performance under the artistic direction of professional choreographer, Elisa Macauley.
